Internship: Where to find Metro Caring’s community at farmers markets

As my final project during my internship with Metro Caring, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing issues of hunger and food insecurity, I had the opportunity to highlight the organization’s vibrant community presence through a blog post focused on local farmers markets. This piece was designed to showcase where and how community members could engage with Metro Caring beyond its physical location, bringing visibility to our outreach efforts and deepening the connection between the organization and the people it serves.

The blog post served a dual purpose: it promoted fresh, local food access while reinforcing Metro Caring’s mission to meet people where they are, literally and figuratively. By weaving in storytelling with practical information, I aimed to craft a narrative that was both engaging and informative, appealing to existing supporters while drawing in new community members.

This writing experience allowed me to flex my content creation skills in a real-world setting, demonstrating how clear, empathetic communication can foster trust and drive engagement. It also underscored the importance of grounding digital storytelling in the lived experiences of the communities we aim to uplift.

Internship: Metro Caring, June 2023 – Present

During my internship with Metro Caring, I undertook the challenge of developing a comprehensive LinkedIn marketing strategy. Tasked with increasing engagement on the platform as part of my quarterly goals, I delved into crafting a plan that would effectively showcase Metro Caring’s mission and initiatives to a wider audience.

Drawing upon my coursework and previous experiences in strategic communication, I meticulously researched and analyzed the organization’s target audience and existing LinkedIn presence. Leveraging insights gained from this research, I devised a multifaceted strategy encompassing content creation, audience targeting, and engagement tactics tailored specifically for the LinkedIn platform.

Internship: Towards Justice, June 2022 – August 2022

This is a presentation developed during my internship with Towards Justice, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for workers’ rights.

Drawing upon my background in strategic communication and digital media, I crafted a detailed strategy outlining the optimal approach to capturing and conveying Towards Justice’s mission and impact through video content. This involved planning of filming schedules, consideration of key messaging themes, and alignment with the organization’s overarching communication goals.

A testament to my ability to strategize and execute effective social media campaigns in a professional setting and work effectively in and managing groups.

In this project, I demonstrated proficiency in crafting a comprehensive strategic communication plan. From conducting thorough research to setting communication goals and designing messaging strategies, I honed my skills in crafting an effective campaign. Ethical communication practices were at the forefront throughout, ensuring integrity in every aspect of the plan. This project serves as a testament to my ability to apply strategic communication principles in real-world scenarios, making it a standout piece within my portfolio.

I chose to pick my client as a Riot Games as I was incredibly interested in the company and the product they make. I developed my communication plan around an idea they could capitalize on to increase engagement and profit leading up to their biggest event of the year.
